Unless one uses UDP and the other uses TCP. Everyone's TCP/IP
stack came from BSD somehow.
But this is what it looks like:
Windows box:
Tracing route to www.sonic.net [209.204.190.64]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 18 ms 19 ms 19 ms adsl-209-204-138-1.sonic.net
[209.204.138.1]
2 22 ms 20 ms 20 ms www.sonic.net [209.204.190.64]
FreeBSD box:
traceroute to www.sonic.net (209.204.190.64), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 adsl-209-204-138-1.sonic.net (209.204.138.1) 15.437 ms 13.831 ms
16.467 ms
2 piggy.sonic.net (208.201.224.120) 20.291 ms 17.476 ms 19.758 ms
