It may not sort out your problem, but I was having trouble with my
TP600X and a 3com fe575 card talking to my netgear FA310 card in the
gateway. I was getting ridiculously slow transfers and large numbers
of errors. It turned out the netgear card was set for full duplex, and
the 3com only did half-duplex. Once I replaced the netgear card with a
cheap second-hand Intel-Pro 100 card set for half duplex in the
gateway, speed quadrupled.
BTW, if anyone else has a 3com FE575 card, it won't work (BSOD on
boot) on a 600X under NT4 with 575M unless you disable the IBM card
software. You then have to enable the 3com card software instead.
