Thanks for the info, www.lexarmedia.com has a nice chart for
different cameras that's pretty close to accurate. I get an
estimate of 112 images on my 32Mb (at higher resolution and highest
quality) so there's why I think 900 on the 256. If I'm taking the
ThinkPad I'm very tempted to get 128Mb (same $/Mb, from Crucial
anyway) and also take the 32Mb. If no ThinkPad, then 256Mb.

Sounds like an accurate assessment, thanks!

Interesting site, thanks. But their $90 for Crucial says "includes
coupon" but I don't see any reference to what the coupon is
(without it, I get $100 on the Crucial site). Problem with Crucial
for this transaction is that I may not have time to get it mailed
from California, and direct to Canada, Crucial is the same price as
FutureShop on the 128Mb (cheaper than FS on the 256Mb).

Good guideline. I already have 8 batteries and an overnight
charger from a local vendor (Total Battery).

Good things to consider, although doesn't it shut itself off after
a certain period of inactivity, by design? Found reference to the
K1000 on the US site, but no other info (bad link).

Don't see the 23-418 anywhere, may have been replaced by the
23-425. There's a 1hr charger for C$50 and lots of others.

The one I think may serve me best for this trip is this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1362254110
It's a 2-2.5hr charger with switching transformer, and I'm sure the
CDA-NZ adapter plug I'm getting for my TP600 will work with it too.
And better charging time (vs. overnight) than I'm getting now at
home, too!

Does anyone have experience with this Nexcell charger?

I know. Some friends shot 70 rolls of film but they're obsessive.

I might shoot 900 I might shoot 50. I'll probably take my TP for
keeping in touch, so 900 or 450 is only the time between downloads
number. 450 might make more sense, and take my 32Mb as well.

I couldn't find the Kodak charger online, nor a PCMCIA adapter.
But when I bought the 32Mb, I think kodak dealers wanted C$17 for
the adapter, vs. C$20 at FS. I doubt there are sufficient savings
to bother with eBay, although I'll confirm it.

Thanks for this and the other tips, I have a base 600 (266MHz). I
think the USB problem is that hot plugging in is okay but pulling
it out without shutting down can cause confusion. Also sometimes
it will start complaining that device X: [whatever] cannot be
stopped. I pull it anyway.

Thanks again for all the help. I'm looking forward to this trip!
