Mike,

The driver at http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/MIGR-42036.html should work,
but only if you COMPLETELY ignore the instructions that IBM gives for
installing it. Here's how to get it installed.

Run the program to extract the files. It won't hurt to run the Setup.exe
program that gets extracted (as IBM says to do), but this will NOT install
the drivers, as you've discovered by yourself. To get the driver installed,
use the Add New Hardware menu in Control Panel. First run Add New Hardware
and let it try to find plug and play devices; click Next when it doesn't find
new devices, or choose whatever option it is that lets you install a device
manually; keep going until you reach "Add New Device" at the top of the list
of devices found; choose Modem from the list of categories; it will try to
find the modem; when it doesn't, choose "Select from list" or something
similar; when the list of manufacturers and modems appears, click Have Disk,
then point to the directory in which you expanded the drivers. The modem you
want will appear, and you can select it. I'm writing this from memory, but
it's easy to get it right once you know what you're looking for.

Let us know if it works!
