yes..
sounds like you are using the original HDD caddy that came with the 540 or 810meg HDD..
you need to isolate the four (two really) drive select pins from the thinkpad..
several ways tyo do this..
cut traces, cut pins, pull the guts out of one of the sockets..
its all up to you how you do it..
proceed at your own risk.. :-)

I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I am having with installing a larger hard drive in my 755c. I have upgraded the bios but when I try to install my travel 6 gig hard it locks up with a 174 error. Any Ideas?
