Why don't you post the part number(s), Paul? I really don't know
why you have been so reluctant about it. Look at the drive,
type the numbers in a message, and send it to this list. If
you are visually impaired, send the photo to me, and I will
send the numbers to the list.
Attachments (e.g., a photo) are not welcome on this list.
It seems that the drive which both you and Bruce identified as
7.5 GB is identified by IBM as 10 GB. Unless of course yours
is a different part number.
But the interesting thing is whether a drive > 6.4 GB can run
on a 701C without disk management software. You are the only
person to report that on this list. Once we determine the
exact identity of this hard drive, we can try to duplicate your
success.
