The "stutter" is caused by the DVD drive not being able to transfer DATA
fast enough to feed the bus. That is why one needs to enable DMA on DVD
drives to get smooth playback. The Portable Drive Bay is, AFAIK, NOT a
CardBus device, and it won't work.
The EXP portable DVD emulates CardBus SCSI, and thus is able to get the data
rates needed for DVD
If you really want DVD on that machine, buy a 770 DVD drive.
I think it has motion compensation and should play DVD without a Margi card
or EVA, but I may be wrong about that
