[Thinkpad] Purpose of IBMPMSVC.EXE

Greetin's list,

Can anyone elaborate on the use and or necessity of the file
IBMPMSVC.EXE
Appears to have something to do with the Thinkpad power management.
Couldn't find anything about it on IBM/thinkpad support to clarify just
what purpose it serves.

Objective is to learn if it is necessary to run at system startup.
