Bruce:

Thank you for the advice and the insights about DVD drives when used
in an external device. You have convinced me, I will acquire a TP770
DVD Drive.

I would appreciate your advice on the use of the Margi DVD-to-Go
as compared to the the IBM ThinkPad 770 DVD Enhanced Video Adapter (DEVA).
Will the Margi PCCard work as well as the DEVA to support DVD playback
on my TP770X?

I would like to share the Margi Card between my TP770X (home)
and my TP570E (travel)

Thanks for your insights and advice.

Steve

| The "stutter" is caused by the DVD drive not being able to transfer DATA
| fast enough to feed the bus. That is why one needs to enable DMA on DVD
| drives to get smooth playback. The Portable Drive Bay is, AFAIK, NOT a
| CardBus device, and it won't work.
| The EXP portable DVD emulates CardBus SCSI, and thus is able to get the
data
| rates needed for DVD
| If you really want DVD on that machine, buy a 770 DVD drive.
| I think it has motion compensation and should play DVD without a Margi
card
| or EVA, but I may be wrong about that
