My experience is that hard drives tend to support a higher
transfer rate at the beginning of the drive. Depending upon
the drive and your needs, the difference could be cruciual. So
when I have a capture and miscellaneous drive, I make two
partitions. The first is for capture, the second is for
everything else. If capture rate is an issue, I erase
everything from the capture partition before making a new
capture.

In this case, if capturing is a big part of one's life, I would
consider putting the OS on the second partition of the main
drive (Win2K supports this, I fear that Win9x does not). MMV
because then the OS files load more slowly. TANSTAAFL.
