[Thinkpad] door (cover) replacement 600 series

Has anyone been successful in transplanting a door (cover) for the connections on a TP 600 series? Can you carefully cut off the rubberized door and re-glue it from one case to another? They look like you should be able to slide a sharp instrument under the edge, but before cutting one off I'd like to know what kind of adhesive, if any, anyone's found to work.
