I recently upgraded my TP 600 2645-51U from a 4000 4GB (DTCA 2090) to a 5400
40GB GNX (IC25N040ATCS05-0). I checked out the specs of my old and new HDs
on the IBM website and the new HD certainly had higher performance on paper.
I found that I halved the boot-up time and reduced the time to open a PDF
file by 66% (yes, I really did time it!). It's a lot quieter too, not that
the old one was particularly noisy.
I don't know whether you would see the same improvement but I'm very pleased
with my new hard disk.
