Never thought I'd live to see the day when I'd say this but, Officer, you're
wrong! ;-)
It's not the cable. The display can be made to come on _without_ moving the lid
by just momentarily pressing the lid switch. The problem will also frequently
cause the display to not come on when the unit is first BOOTed, on average about
every second time. Again, momentarily pressing the lid switch will clear the
problem.
I cured my 600E by reinstalling W2K, not by replacing the cable, and it worked
just fine for my son for almost 2 years until I replaced it recently with a
600X.
