I would have to disagree.

Software players have the ability to use hardware decoders. They can be
stand alone and play choppy. When a decoder chip is available, the software
uses the chip.

The experiment: Play DVD with Margi and DVD express (nothing else running)
Result: Excellent playback.
Check: System Kernal Monitor CPU USAGE 20%

The experiement: Remove Margi card and play DVD with DVD express only.
Result: Choppy Playback.
Check: System Kernal Monitor CPU USAGE 99%

Unless I have some Frankenstein software. I would believe that all softDVD
players have some kind of ability to access the decoder chip if available.
