The DVD speed is not the problem. DVD playback is 1X
You may need to update the program.
Run it in 256 color mode on a 600E
That will give better playback
Make sure DMA is enabled for the drive.
That's it, don't buy another DVD

Subject: RE: [Thinkpad] DVD ?
Hello Peter
I have a 600E with a 366MHz processor and I run 256MB of ram. I tried a couple of the free DVD software but my computer did not have the right decoders and I tried all ways to get the decoders but I could not get the software to work. I bought Power DVD and I have had no problems since. I sometimes get issues with the Disney DVDs and I think it is because of the 2 x DVD player not being fast enough.
If any one knows where I can get a 6 x DVD player to fit the 600e can you please let me know.
Regards
Mark
