I'm on a plane almost weekly and the "Bonus" searches have occurred and not
occurred regardless of which one of my toys I'm traveling with.
Doesn't appear to be anything but random and having the laptop off or suspended
(although mine are most often suspended) doesn't appear to make a difference.
Wife and eldest daughter (both T23s) who also travel weekly have reported
similar findings.
Personally Mitch, I think you're ascribing too much intellignece to the TSA
folks. If there WAS a pattern, wouldn't that also indicate that there was some
thought behind the madness? ;-)
The "randomness" of the pre-boarding searches at the jetway are also suspect:
TSA: Please step over to the table for a brief inspection.
Me: No problem.
TSA: Please take off your shoes.
Me: OK, where can I sit, there's no chair.
TSA: Oh, just take them off, sit on the floor if necessary.
Me: Sorry, I'm disabled and you'd have to help me get off the floor. Get me a
chair!
TSA: (Looking up at my 6'6" height and 240LBs of heft from his about 5'5"
height!) Oh, er, um,.... never mind, you may board.
Regards,
James
