RE: [Thinkpad] Traveling with a T30 or fun and games with the TS A

I flew BWI (Baltimore) to/from DFW (Dallas) a few weeks ago. No special
checks going down. My T23 got the same full treatment (start up, explosive
wipe) coming back. So did my associates T30.

with the TSA

                Hey:

A while back my company "gave" me a T30, I suppose
since I am among the frequent fliers (every other week
I'm usually on a plane). Traveling with the T30 used
to be nondescript until the new TSA regime came into
the airports on Jan. 1. Now, EVERY time I go through
pre-boarding security, my T30 gets bonus prize during it's journey through
the X-Ray machine. This prize includes a excruciatingly meticulous
inspection of the case, keyboard and monitor and the explosives residue
wipe. As an experiment, I carried my personal X21 and T23 (you know you
travel too much when you could perform these kind of experiments) and
received no special inspections.

I've politely asked the TSA crews (in San Francisco
and San Diego) just what was triggering the bonus
inspections. They were unable or unwilling to
communicate that to me. BTW, the crews are generally
                polite, but just darn tightlipped.

Are there any frequent fliers out there besides myself
who have similar experiences? I suppose I should get
my slow moving behind to the airport earlier or
perhaps stop attending peace demonstrations with my
                hippie friends.

BTW: I usually travel without the DVD to lighten the
load. Hmmm, that might be a new experiment....

                thanks,
                Mitchell
