I'm inclined to agree with Bruce.

6.4 gig drives, even used ones, have some value because of the
(8 GB?) limit in many early Thinkpads, for instance the 701.

I've been very pleased with a 40GB 40GNX drive (less than
$200). It is faster and QUIETER (please excuse the shouting)
than the older Travelstar drives. Slightly cheaper are the
40GN (no X) drives, but they have only 2 MB cache instead of 8
MB.

You might consider getting a larger drive and including Linux
on it in a multi-boot configuration. It would save you the
trouble of swapping hard drives. Your 6.4 may even have a
resale market, or it could be a system backup.
