[Thinkpad] new A series or T40 with bright, high contrast LCD display?

Anyone have any ideas if IBM is planning to release a new Centrino
mobile CPU A series to replace the current A31p (and compete with
the Dell D800 with the WUXGA+ (1920x1200 pixel 15.4", 185 nit,
300:1 contrast ratio display) and 1.6 GHz Pentium M, etc)?

Or a T40 with a better LCD like the FlexView with in plane switching
(IPS) technology in the A31p (it has a 400:1 contrast ratio with wide
angle viewing)? I haven't been able to find a contrast ratio spec on
the T40p (it isn't in the March 2003 version 258 tabook.pdf like it
is for the A31p). In a similar vein, the tabook.pdf doesn't list
a brightness for the A31p but lists the T40p at 150 nits. In both
cases, higher is better, especially if you need to see the display
outside (I live in southern Arizona and use notebooks on field trips).

Did IBM really leave IEEE-1394 out of the T40p? (I realize that it
includes USB 2.0 but Firewire is better than USB 2 in certain respects).

Anyone know if the T40p supports DVI when in the Dock II or does it just
support analog video out (tabook.pdf says analog but the Dock II has a DVI
port included)?

I've looked around on the IBM site but I have not been able to find the
answers to the above - sorry if I've overlooked something.

Stuart
