all you need to do is use a diskette in the floppy drive to
FDISK and FORMAT the new HDD..
W2k will work nicely on the 600 series..
you will need more memory than with W98 though..
i just sold a bunch of these 600E's and thus have a bit of
recent experience doing this..
you will need to update the bios and get all the updated
utilities and drivers from the IBM web site..

Subject: [Thinkpad] Install/Format new HD in ThinkPad 600E?
I am working on a used ThinkPad 600E with a bad HD. It came
with no ThinkPad Utility Disks. Installed a new HD. ( My
first ThinkPad job: )
1) How do I get past the ThinkPad built-in menu, in order to
Format? Is there a special Utility required for this?
2) Are there any other ThinkPad Restores I need after HD
Installation/Format?
Thanks,
Cyberwing
