RE: [Thinkpad] Tom's Hardware says: T40 - Quite Likely the Best Pentium-M Notebook!

A good article... I would only update my initial rave reviews on my T40
with a few glitches that has me toning down my initial optimism a bit...

The power button or circuit does not start the machine up reliably under
battery power... one time it starts up fine, the next time the fan goes
on and nothing.... then you wait two minutes and it starts... IBM is
sending a new battery; hopefully that's it... and maybe its just my
settings, but I cant get the machine to connect to my dsl service via
the Ethernet connector... I know its gigabit, but its supposed to be
downward compatible... it connects fine when you go directly from the
modem into the computer, but when I use my 10/100 hub it will just not
connect... and a few other software glitches like having the radio
on/off switch in the system tray disappear... and again, it might be my
setup, but the wireless seems slower and less reliable than the wireless
in my T23

A very thorough review of the T40 released today at:
http://www.tomshardware.com/newsletter/vol3/15/ibm_t40.html

The internal views of the test unit, and the test results themselves,
are quite
interesting.

James
