I have upgraded an A20P to 1 gig
Don't know about the A20M, but I think it is very similar
Only the video card is really different

Subject: [Thinkpad] Fastest Processor an A20M 8MB (not A21) will support

> I have noticed that the fastest processor IBM ever put in the A20M was a
speedstep PIII 700/550 MHz. Is this the fastest processor that these boards
will support, or does someone have experience upgrading it (unofficially) to
a higher speed (such as a mobile micro-pga2 PIII 850)? Since the PIII 700
and 850 both run on 1.6V, I don't see an electrical problem with it working,
but I am curious as to whether the bios on that board would sabotage my
efforts. I now know that the A21M boards will support up to a 1GHz proc,
but I have run accross an A20M that could use an upgrade, and noticed that
it does not share a bios with the A21M.

board with A21M bios (the specs look the same with the exception of the TV
out port (same video, etc.), and as long as you don't put anything in that
the voltage regulator couldn't handle (meaning no chips that need more than
1.6v), I don't see why it wouldn't work)? Thanks in advance.
