I agree. Yesterday night, I finally reinitialized completely the BIOS,
set every timing item to "Disabled" and everything went OK.
The laptop is now able to backup and restore large images stored on the
LAN without entering the sleeping mode.

I didn't think of the PS2 commands and that's a great idea too.
