Recently I re-installed WinDoze on a friends computer, and re-did his
wireless LinkSys card.
WELL...
My D-Link 2X 8011b router could see the card (and vice versa), but it could
never get past the router to the network (or Internet). Not an excryption
issue, I had a good connection, it would NOT get DCHP info or an IP address
(no luck with winip.cfg)
When I returned the unit, it hooked right up with his router and was on
line.
The only conclusion I can draw is that not all wireless systems are
compatible. Both LinkSys and D-Link are major players, but the stuff won't
work together.
Gotta watch out for that when buying wireless PCMCIA cards!
