[Thinkpad] Thinkpad 600 with Dead Battery

I am attempting to update the BIOS on my ThinkPad 600 and since the battery
is dead it will not allow me to do so.

I really do not want to buy yet another “smart” battery in order to do so.

Is there a way to update the BIOS without the battery charged?
