No answers for you, but have you tried:
- looking through your System Information for identifers/hooks/connection
info?
- clubbing it to death with something like PC Magazine's freeware EndItAll?
- Using more sophisticated freeware, e.g. Process Explorer

Anybody know what QCONSVC.EXE does?
It is an IBM program (or looks like one, it mentions an IBM
directory when you do a dump, though there is no copyright
or other identification in the file) that is a process on my
600E. It is in \WINNT\SYSTEM32. I'm running Win2K SP2.
I don't know what program starts it, but perhaps it is related
to
QCWLICON.EXE which had inserted itself into the HKLM /Run.
It is in the \Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities directory
and seems to relate to wireless networking, though I run only
hard wire ethernet.
This is not just an academic question: QCONSVC.EXE refuses to
shut down and perhaps has something to do with my not being
able to remove a certain firewire device connected via cardbus.
Thank you!
