External Batteries. Was [Re: [Thinkpad] TP 600E battery]

I used to have an external lead acid batter for an old powerbook that gave
me 4+ hours of use. I have also seen something called the Moby external
laptop battery", an external battery, that claims to work with thinkpads
and provides a 5-6 hour charge. It's about $80, but then you have more
stuff to lug around.

I always thought it would be kinda neat to be able to buy some sort of
conversion kit that would let you purchase a relatively cheap battery, such
as camcorder batteries, or small motorcycle batteries, and use them as
externals for a laptop. If I am in an airport or plane and need to work
for more than two hours, I'd gladly lug an extra five pounds around. I
suppose the next generation of fuel-powered batteries will solve this
problem. I'm always amazed at how cruddy batteries are. Probably some huge
conspiracy, like the dismantling of public transit or something. But I
digress.
