[Thinkpad] T23 unwilling hinge

Opening the hinge on my new T23 requires a lot more strength
than on the 3+ year-old 600E. You kind of need three hands,
one to keep the main part on the table, and the other two to
open the screen without applying any undue torque.

Is there anything to be done about this (sewing machine oil??)?

I remember that the gradual stiffening of the hinge was one of
the few design problems with the 701C / 701CS. I was lucky to
destroy my 701 hinges under warranty, so I got basically a new
computer body. You still see 701 machines with damaged hinges
resurfacing on ebay.
