In a case of deja vu all over again, I am again without my primary desktop
display.
Last Tuesday, while waxing eloquent in one of my usual deathless prose emails,
my 19" KDS monitor apparently got sick to it's stomach and went to join the
Choir Invisible!
My initial reaction, as I watched the wisp of smoke that had emanated from the
display after a VERY loud electronic SNAP, was that the time had come to get
that 19" LCD I've been Jonesing for.
But, then I remembered that this same thing had happened only 2 years ago and
that one of the primary reasons for getting the KDS, besides price, was the 3
year "no questions" warranty.
So I get on the phone with a Sweet Young Thing from KDS.
SWT: How may I help you.
Me: My monitor has died.
SWT: What happened exactly?
Me: The smoke escaped, now it won't work.
SWT: The smoke escaped?
Me: Yes, there was a loud report and the smoke escaped from the back of the
monitor. Now it won't work.
SWT: I see.
After taking all of my vital statistics and verifying that the monitor was
indeed under warranty, the SWT promised that I'd have a replacement at my door
in 3 days.
I wish I could report that the new monitor arrived safe and sound, but I wasn't
home when Fedex attempted to deliver it Friday.
(My Dr. stuck me in the hospital Tuesday evening and I hadn't been able to chew
through the restraints until today! ;-))
I have to return to the hospital this Tuesday for some surgery and THIS time I'm
taking one of my laptops. I'll let you all know how successful I am at sniffing
into their WAPs!
