Thank you for your reply.
I bought the battery from Impact Computers:
http://store.yahoo.com/impactcomputersmiami/02k7019-770.html
The batteries are advertised as new. Is there any way
to check if my battery is new?

How can I change the CMOS/RTC battery? Can I do this
by myself?

When I had a dead CMOS battery before another computer,
the system clock lost time, but that's not happening
on my 770. Does this suggest that it might not be the
CMOS battery?

First of all, did you purchase NEW batterys or ebay "specials", because just
about all used 770 batterys are SHOT.
If it really is a NEW battery, change the CMOS/RTC battery on the 770. A
dead CMOS battery will prevent the main battery from being seen properly.
But I still think you bought used batterys, and they are just dead.
