[Thinkpad] 600E DVD DMA Problem

Hi,

I have a Thinkpad 600E (2645-55U) with the 2X DVD drive. When I enable DMA
for the drive, I get garbled video when I try to play a DVD; the drive becomes
generally unusable. If I disable DMA, all is well, but I'd very much like to
enable DMA for the extra performance. This occurs under both Win98 and
Debian. Since I don't have another 600E or another UltraSlimBay device, I can't
tell whether it's the drive or the computer that's the culprit.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a solution?

Thanks,
Jeff
