fully internal..
i don't know if it is flashable to G standard..
if not, there should be an upgrade wifi card..

G3U is dual band IBM (philips) wifi card..
G5U is the intel wifi card.. widely reputed to be inferior
to the ibm dual band card..

i have a G3U here i have been experimenting with..
and two AP's..
one dual band and one "b" only..
the G3U keeps grabbing the dual band AP, even in the garage
(way at the other end of the house) to the point i just
pulled the antenna's off it so the G3U would talk to the "b"
AP...

FWIW, you want the G3U not the G5U..

it is there in the start menu..
so its included..
no additional charge..
BUT, you only get about a 3 month free subscription for
virus updates..

i have not taken this G3U outside the house..
i did try it in the transnote folio case (see a picture on
thinkpads.com) and these was lots of room for the 9 cell
battery..

the 6 cell battery is only $165 (and no sales tax when
coming from thinkpads.com) and lasts a LONG time so i think
it would be a good investment for now or in the future..
FWIW, the G3U i have here to play with i have been using the
6 cell battery..

other imporessions:
the new trackpoint cap is very nice..
some might want to use the older cats tongue as there seems
to be a short "learning curve"..
i ignore the touchpad and keep it turned off in the bios..

the new 7200RPM HDD is F*A*S*T, F*A*S*T, F*A*S*T, F*A*S*T,
F*A*S*T...!!!!

the one handed latch is very nice..

for other impressions, just ask.. :-)
