Hello,
I would think it very unlikely your ThinkPad is damaging the hard drives,
so that leaves other possibilities to explore.
Could there be some kind of a connection failure between the hard disk
drive and the computer? I'm not familiar with the 560Z or 570, but if
they use a drive shell to hold the hard disk drive perhaps there is a
problem with the cabling or the connector? Maybe an intermittent
connection caused by thermal expansion/contraction or dirt?
