Hello
i have several Thinkpad 570 recovery/manual kits. Included in the kit i
have opened is:
1. IBM Important safety instructions sheet
2. IBM ThinkPad 570 User's Reference (Never opened)
3. ThinkPad 570 User's Reference Supplement
4. IBM Notice: Year 2000 readiness status of certain software that
might be included with your IBM PC
5. ThinkPad Personal Carrying Case Catalog
6. ThinkPad Innsurance Flyer
7. Lotus SmartSuite Millenium Edition (Sealed)
8. IBM Software Selections CD for IBM ThinkPad 570 version 1.0
(Applications and device drivers, Sealed)
9. MS Windows 98 OEM (Sealed with unused product key, registration
card, and all inserts)
10. Product Recovery CD-ROM for ThinkPad 570 MT 2644 version 1.0
(Preinstalled software, windows 95)
11. Product Recovery CD-ROM for ThinkPad 570 MT 2644 version 1.0
(preinstalled software, windows 98, bootable)
12. ThinkPad Recovery CD-ROM Bootable Floppy Disk
All items come in an IBM ThinkPad box, most likely the original
packaging. Some boxes still remain 100% sealed, others have been opened
but have the internal software still sealed (like in my example).
Items 7, 8, and 9 were sealed individually and remain sealed.
items 10, 11, and 12 were in a sealed clear plastic holder together. It
was partially (and poorly) ripped open to view the contents as a sticker
partially blocked the view of the top of the disc, but no disc was used
in any way. I'd say that overall, this thing is brand new, opened only
to see what was inside.
As mentioned, i have access to about 3 large boxes filled with these
kits, so i probably have close to 30 or more kits. None of them help me
at all, however, since i have a ThinkPad i1400 2621 machine (which
*still* isn't 100% working). These kits were aquired via a local
auction for items left behind after a department store closed.
I plan to sell these off on eBay, but if anyone from the list wants one
of these things before i start, feel free to contact me and make a
reasonable offer.
i need a 10 gig or larger (prefer 20 GB or more) hard drive that will
work in a ThinkPad i1400 2621. i think they have to be like 7.5mm or
something. i also need to max out the RAM....but i'm not sure what the
Maximum amount or speed of ram can go in here (the manual says 2 128
simms at 66hz, but i have read that someone got a 256 simm at 133hz to
work), so if someone wishes to help with that i'd appreciate it. I also
need a new i1400 2621 keyboard as the trackpoint on this one died. I
need a new battery for this thing, as both of the batteries i have are
pretty much shot (one will not charge at all, the other lasts maybe 45
minutes fully charged). Lastly, i need the battery release button from
the bottom of one of these machines.
Any help greatly appreciated, and i will trade kits for the above items.
Otherwise, feel free to make offers of cash or paypal.

Subject: [Thinkpad] 570 Recovery.
HI All,
I have a 570e (2644-6AU) that I recently purchased. I have installed a
new
40Gig drive and now need to load a operating system. I chose Win 98 SE
as
I had a copy and that was the native load. Getting it to work has been
a
real trial. I have all the drivers and loads from IBM but getting them
to
all work together hasn't gone all that well. At this point I will say
that
it works barely!
I am looking for a recovery disk for this machine. I will take what
ever
you have. I would like the original Win 98 load if someone has it and
would make me a copy. If you only have the W2000 recovery I will go
with
that. I just want this thing to work like it should with all the
drivers
loaded.
Doing this by hand is a real drag. I just went to the IBM site and it
isn't working again. I can't find the device driver matrix they used to
have available either. These are really good machines but the work you
have to do to get it to run is something else. Maybe I should go with
linux? Nah!
