Subject: [Thinkpad] 570 Recovery.
HI All,
I have a 570e (2644-6AU) that I recently purchased. I have installed a new
40Gig drive and now need to load a operating system. I chose Win 98 SE as
I had a copy and that was the native load. Getting it to work has been a
real trial. I have all the drivers and loads from IBM but getting them to
all work together hasn't gone all that well. At this point I will say that
it works barely!
I am looking for a recovery disk for this machine. I will take what ever
you have. I would like the original Win 98 load if someone has it and
would make me a copy. If you only have the W2000 recovery I will go with
that. I just want this thing to work like it should with all the drivers
loaded.
Doing this by hand is a real drag. I just went to the IBM site and it
isn't working again. I can't find the device driver matrix they used to
have available either. These are really good machines but the work you
have to do to get it to run is something else. Maybe I should go with
linux? Nah!
