[Thinkpad] TP 770 DVD w/o sound

I currently have a TP 770 233mhz running win2k. The
DVD's run great but have no sound. I can play cd's
with sound and have troubleshooted my sound card and
have no problems. I have the mediamatics software with
an upgrade on both the video and the software for
win2k from the ibm site. I have the recovery cd but
would hate to return back to the original os. I also
tried the generic dvd player in win2k and it also
plays with no sound. Any suggestions?
