It always happened while I was using the connection.
Since I have no hard drive I've just taken to leaving the 560 on all the
time and letting it shut off the display and "hard drive". I have it
leave the system on (while plugged in) so it sits overnight with the
system on and every morning the connection's been fine.
The strange "slow flash/dissconnect" behavior always happened while the
computer was awake (display on) and I was sending and receiving stuff.
As an aside I can report that since updating the Linksys wireless router
firmware to 1.44 the indicator LED on the card is doing the slow flash
but seems to connect fine.
I've also discovered that there is a firmware update for the card but
I'm going to see if updating the router has fixed the problem before I
mess with anything else.
