If it won't run off AC, either your AC adaptor or your system board is dead.
The power connector on the back is a weak point, as is the AC adaptor

:( I tried removing the battery and running off AC, but it doesn't work.
My old 755 worked just fine w/ no battery. Is it just my 760 that's this
way, or did IBM in their infinite wisdom make all 760s like this?

other suggestions for getting it running? I've got to take a trip and I'm
pretty desperate for a working laptop.
