Fortunately, I haven't damaged the slot as far as I can tell. having tested it
out with the Ethernet card. Since I got the card with the kit, I was
reluctant just to say that it wouldn't work when everything else did, hence
the mallet. It did have the gold strip at the top, but luckily for myself, my
sister, and every pissed-off-bone in my body, my father just so happens to
work with a man who owns the third version of the card. We are hoping that he
would be willing to trade, which would be great for everyone involved. Oh
yeah, the card isn't damaged either, I tried it out in my dad's Dell
Precision M60, which had wireless connectivity already, one of the reasons I
bought a wireless router. Thank you all so much for your help! If anyone has
an old Sceptre Notebook with Linux on it, send me a message. I'd like to hear
from someone else :) Again, thank you all so much for your swift and generous
help. Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor some day.
