I have a Thinkpad 240x which was given to my wife by her last employer, but
IT said they didn't want it back as they were upgrading etc. Since it had a
fair amount of company specific systems management software on it I tried to
remove as much as possible and re-install windows. I ran into problems with
it and gave up. That was 6 months ago. I've decided to try to get it up and
running again but now when I turn it on, not a lot happens.
The green power on light comes on but no other's light up or flash. I can
hear the fan start and the hard-drive whirr and do a few clicks. There are
no beeps. Nothing else happens. There is nothing on the screen. I've tried
linking it to a CRT monitor and used the Function + F7 (or whatever one it
is) to select external monitor but that shows nothing too. I've tried using
the batter and the AC adaptor. I've tried reseating the TFT screen cable.
Can anyone suggest what can be wrong and what I can do?
Many thanks in advance.
Neil
