[Thinkpad] [A31p] Problems with SpeedStep

Hello everyone. I'm an oldie in the list, though i haven't posted
anything for over a year, anyway, back to my problem...

I own an A31p (P4-M 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, 80gb hdd, 15" tft, dvdrw, dvdrom),
my older thinpads were a T23 and a 600E.

Now, when the laptop is powered by the mains and the battery is inside
the laptop, then performance is at maximum of 2.0ghz.

But, when i remove the battery (laptop still connected to the mains) SpeedStep
kicks in and reduces my performance to 1.1ghz and then to 750ghz.

I've asked around and apparently other people have seen the same problem
on other thinkpad models.

Any help would be appriciated :]
