I haven't removed an IBM CMOS battery that was soldered in but I have changed
the barrel type batteries on several older clones like a Saeger. I was able
to purchase the battery from Batteries Plus. You need a small PC soldering
iron, heat sink, care and some luck but it can be accomplished. I would turn
the board over and melt the solder from the backside and install the new one
likewise.
