Not at all. All WiFi grades (a, b and g) can use WEP, and now also WPA.
WPA is much more secure and cannot be spoofed by MAC address cloning.
However, WPA is an interim standard and will be replaced by the 802.11i
(or WPA2) security standard, and may require a hardware upgrade to use AES
encryption standard because it requires significantly more computing power
to run at full speed.
