Well I've ordered my new ThinkPad (from Bill of course) and it's
already time to think about accessorizing. :)
First, batteries. The -GEU comes with the 9-cell battery which I
understand sticks out the back a bit. What is the rating of this
battery (in Ah or mAh)? I'm looking it up but am having trouble
figuring out what it is.
Also, how many Ah is the smaller 6-cell battery? I'm a little
concerned about the 9-er sticking out, my case if for a 600 and I'm
afraid it won't accommodate it.
I recently purchased the Electrovaya letter-size external battery.
It's rated at 8Ah. Maybe I should get a 6-cell battery, use it
day-to-day, have the 9-cell as an extended-life battery for longer
trips, and sell the Electrovaya for what I can get? Does anyone
think that's a good idea?
The Electrovaya has the benefit of being external and connecting
through the AC adapter port, so I wouldn't have to hibernate to
swap batteries. And if replacing the Electrovaya with a second
battery that will go internally is a good idea, is there a better
idea than the 6-cell battery?
Should I get more than 512MB RAM? I don't have specific
requirements yet, but is it worth adding a second 512MB, or should
I wait a while for 1GB pieces to go down in price and add one of
those?
Docking stations/port replicators: any suggestions? In the latter
case, is a generic USB-based one a better bet than an IBM-specific
one?
Sorry for all the questions but a whole new world of shopping is
about to open up. Thanks in advance for your answers!
