I had a friend with this problem about a year ago with an ME system. He
simply could not get the CD-RW to stay around. He spent a lot of time
at it, and is an experienced Windows person. After having dragged me
into the mess, we eventally decided to install Windows 2000. It was one
of the more frustrating and bizarre events I have ever encountered with
Windows. I can only attribute this to some subtle problem with the
registry. I really think that WinME is the worst of the Windows versions.
If you do manage to find the magic to fix this, post it! ;-)
