If you disable visual themes you should be fine with 150mo

Check the size of the virtual memory "paging" file, I would expect 192mo
but no more on that thing.

I'd bet it's the shortage of ram. XP really needs 256mb, and 512mb would
be even better.

The 600E is capable, as long as you give it some headroom.
