Martin,
if the two displays don't have identical image .. this may be due to the
difference in the aspect ratios of the two screens. Your T30 is likely
as 4/3 aspect ratio whereas the external screen is 5/4.
An image filling one may not fit completely the other .. unless it
distorted.
