I recently finally installed XP Pro on my 600X (5FU). I get small hangs
sometimes while using a SelectaBase and KVM switch. Last night the mouse
even went crazy where moving it a little caused the cursor to fly all over
the screen. Switching away and back on the KVM cleared it up.
I have to say I have not seen your issue with hangs. If they last a long
time, and only audio adjustments fix it, I would disable the sound
hardware and see what happens.
Also, do NOT use the audio drivers from Microsoft's Windows Update
service. Use the drivers from IBM.
I performed an upgrade install from W2K, but plan a clean install in a few
months when I have a clear weekend. (I'll be installing Fedora Core 2 and
getting WiFi to work without drivers from the vendor; and I have lots of
sofware to install.)
If you like, I will send the versions of any drivers I have installed.
Chris
