I don't usually comment on the OS debates (since clearly VMS was the best
:-) ), but many of the issues usually come from the user and how they use
the machine.
Having the Help Desk in my purview and seeing what some of the users do,
it's incredible that any operating system survives--"what do you mean it's
not a good idea to log into Exchange on 3 different computers simultaneously
while I have 50 windows open on each machine?"
(My personal favorite is still the late night call that "my computer is all
beepy and swoopie" (unmentioned was the can of Coke spilled into the
keyboard and carefully cleaned up--only discovered when I accidentally
turned it over to get to the cable) followed closely by "my computer keeps
crashing" which was caused by the power strip broken and held together with
Scotch Tape.)
Given the huge amount of software out there and the "quality" with which it
is written, it's amazing that any of this stuff works at all.

Actually, I have tested them side by side on 600X, T21, and T-30. W2k is
Slower, by quite a bit. I still prefer it because I have never learned
how to adjust to change.... But I do believe XP Professional is superior
to anything out there.
