Pardon me in advance if I offend you with this comment. Bruce has a point.
Using non-IBM mini-pci wifi devices/drivers will gum up the works in most
cases.
Access Connections may have had conflicts with that setup. AC is also one
of the most tempermental programs I've run, and it absolutely depends on a
perfect hardware/network configuration.
That being said; let me raise my hand in the air when the next OS vote is
taken, in favor of Windows XP.
90% of any reliable XP system's foundation is based on proper installation
and configuration of the OS, services, drivers, group policy, etc.
FWIW, I have used Thinkpads for years, and have run XP on a 600E, 600X,
T20-21-23, A20m, and an A22p. Some loaded from restore cd's, some from a
plain vanilla XP cd. Always made sure bios and drivers were IBM's and up to
date.
In one year Windows NT gave me more BSOD's than XP has in three. I'm a
believer.
I do hope you solve the problems you've encountered, and get to enjoy USING
the Thinkpad you bought.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Matt
